Magmar is a strange one. This whole area of the Pokedex is a lot of single stage evolutions (in Gen 1) with really out there concepts. Magmar would be interesting to do a proper painting of. It's very nebulous what parts of his body are meant to be solid and what parts are meant to be fire.
I don't care for Magmortar's design any more than Electrivier, even though I think it retains Magmar's personality much better.
