This was another character from the comic I was working on a long time ago. I never did a color version of him, so I had to make something up for this one. (See the previous character here)
I've liked Mankey ever since he helped me beat Brock in Pokemon Yellow. If I recall correctly, there's no way for you to have a grass or water type in Yellow by the time you get to Pewter City, and it would take a lot of leveling to get past Onix with a Butterfree. So the only way to beat Brock, is to take the path toward Victory road from Viridian City and catch a Mankey. Once it learns Low Kick you're good to go.
